Amendments to the ARB Code of Professional Conduct

This Circular serves to inform registered architects (“RAs”) of amendments to the ARB Code of Professional Conduct (“Code”), which have been approved by the Architects Registration Board (“ARB”) on 7 May 2024 and will become effective on 14 May 2024.

The key amendments are set out as follows:

1)    Incorporation of an “introduction” to explain the backgrounds and the application of the Code;

2)    Grouping of the Code into 5 aspects:

• Competence
• Integrity
• Managing Conflict of Interest
• Statutory and Regulatory Compliance
• Regards for Public Interest

3)    Introduction of two new codes:

• A registered architect shall not direct and/or make undue influence on any other architect to act in any manner which could violate the ARB Code of Professional Conduct
• A registered architect shall co-operate with ARB on its disciplinary investigation, either as a respondent or witness, with full disclosure of facts to the best of his/her knowledge
